1. What is the specific topic that your group is focusing on?
Our group is focusing on migrant workers in China who are moving from countrysides to bigger cities like Shanghai. We feel that they need help and that they need stable jobs and higher pay. They are being treated with very little salaries for working for long hours.
2. What organization did you choose to focus on and why?
International Labor Organization (ILO). We chose to focus on this organization because ILO is a pretty big organization and it covers many things on migrant workers. This organization is also doing what we said on doing, making migrant workers have higher pay. The other thing that ILO is doing is to protect the migrant workers, because migrant workers know less about the city and have a higher chance of getting in trouble, ILO thought about protecting them.
3. What are they actually doing to try and combat or change your issue?
They as mentioned before, they cover a large area. They first of all are trying to make migrant workers have a higher payment so they can provide their family. Next, they are worried about how these people are endangered to city routines like traffic; they want to warn them about them.
4. What are some of the things you like about their program?
We think that they are very kind to think about the migrant workers, because there aren't many people that think about migrant workers due to their habits and their appearance, so probably only organizations will bother to help them. We are still grateful that they are helping the them, and we like to follow their footsteps.
5. How do you plan to become involved with this organization or model your action plan after it?
We are going to get involved in the International Labor Organization by advertising and about what ILO does to people in our community first, then move on to the larger surroundings. Because we are only covering the part of stabilizing jobs and making workers to get a raise while the ILO are also protecting. After we set up our organization and starting going, we want to also move on to following protecting the migrant workers.
